Political Turmoil in Bihar: Anant Singh Expelled from JD(U) Amid Secret Meetings
Bihar's Political Landscape Shaken
In a significant upheaval in Bihar's political scene, the Janata Dal (United) has expelled MLA Anant Singh and his wife Neelam Devi from the party for a duration of six years. This major political move was followed by a clandestine meeting between Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary and Union Minister Lalan Singh at the Chief Minister's residence, lasting approximately thirty minutes.
While the official agenda of this meeting remains undisclosed, it is speculated that it relates to the ongoing political turmoil. Additionally, another secret gathering of prominent party leaders took place at 7 Circular Road, further intensifying the political atmosphere in the state.
An intriguing twist occurred when Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's convoy passed directly in front of the residence of the expelled leader Anant Singh. Reports suggest that the convoy did not stop, and there was no direct interaction between the two leaders.
Following his expulsion, Anant Singh has made a bold political declaration, asserting that he feels no regret over the decision and plans to establish his own political party instead of joining another. He criticized Nitish Kumar's leadership, claiming that the JD(U) is in such a state that it may struggle to secure even double-digit votes in the upcoming elections.
The root of this controversy lies in the actions of Umesh Kushwaha, the state president of JD(U), who accused Anant Singh and former MLA Neelam Devi of acting against party lines. The party contends that during the recent Bihar Legislative Council elections, both individuals openly disregarded official directives and made inappropriate statements against senior leadership. Furthermore, they allegedly opposed the party's official candidate in the Patna Graduates constituency and campaigned for a candidate supported by Jan Suraj, leading to this disciplinary action.
