Political Reactions to Ram Mandir Donation Controversy

The controversy surrounding alleged misappropriation of donations for the Ram Janmabhoomi temple has sparked significant political unrest in Uttar Pradesh. The opposition has launched a fierce attack on the ruling BJP, while the government insists that a transparent investigation is underway. BJP MP Dinesh Sharma assured in a conversation with a news outlet that the state government has acted swiftly. He mentioned that the Chief Minister has ordered a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe, which is being conducted transparently. Sharma urged the public to remain patient and trust the process.

Cabinet Minister Sanjay Nishad echoed this sentiment, stating that unlike previous administrations, the current government is not concealing corruption. He remarked that while corruption existed before, it was often suppressed, and wrongdoers received protection. However, he emphasized that under their governance, such cases are being exposed, and the guilty are facing consequences. Nishad called for support for the actions taken against corruption rather than statements that mislead the public.

Surendra Jain, the national spokesperson for the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), criticized the Congress party regarding the allegations of misappropriation in the temple donations. He labeled party leaders as "fake devotees" who exploit the name of Lord Ram for electoral gains. Jain asserted that Congress has a history of politicizing the Ram Janmabhoomi issue, dating back to the era of India's first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru.

He further stated that when Ram Lalla manifested, local Muslims had expressed in writing their disinterest in the Babri Masjid, as no prayers had been held there since 1935, and suggested handing it over to Hindus. Nevertheless, Nehru disregarded their stance. Jain accused the government of that time of complicating the issue rather than resolving it. He strongly criticized Congress's recent attacks on the temple's construction and funding, claiming their devotion is merely superficial.
