Protests Erupt Against Mamata Banerjee's Visit

Reacting to the assault on Banerjee's vehicle, state minister and BJP leader Agnimitra Paul stated, "Our party does not endorse violence, harassment, or throwing mud and shoes at anyone. Such actions are not part of BJP's culture. While Mamata Banerjee may have made mistakes during her tenure, treating an elderly female leader in this manner is entirely unacceptable. If anyone is acting in the name of the BJP, it is utterly wrong."

BJP Denies Involvement in the Incident

BJP state president Samik Bhattacharya clarified that the party had no connection to the incident involving stones or slippers being thrown at Banerjee's vehicle. He condemned the behavior towards the former female chief minister, emphasizing that it tarnishes the state's image. He remarked, "The BJP does not support attacks on any leader's vehicle, and the police should take appropriate action in this matter. However, the TMC should also reflect on its past misdeeds."

Public Discontent with TMC

Bhattacharya further noted that the events in Bijpur were a manifestation of public anger and conflict directed at the TMC. He asserted that the BJP does not condone violence against any political figure and called for a thorough investigation by law enforcement, while urging the TMC to introspect on its previous actions.
