Political Landscape in Bihar Heats Up
Following recent accusations from JD(U) MLC Sanjay Singh, Prashant Kishor, the founder of the Jan Suraj Party, has sharply countered the claims, intensifying the political atmosphere in Bihar. Singh alleged that Kishor sought the position of Deputy Chief Minister while being part of JD(U). In response, Kishor humorously remarked that they were staying at the Chief Minister's residence, a place where someone like Singh would not even be allowed entry. He questioned how such statements could be taken seriously.

Kishor further elaborated that during his meetings with Nitish Kumar, individuals like Singh were not permitted to attend. He questioned Singh's presence during his requests. On June 8, 2025, Singh accused Kishor of hoping for a high position after joining JD(U). According to Singh, Kishor was appointed as the national vice president of JD(U) but later demanded the Deputy CM role following the political shifts in 2020. After being denied by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Kishor became frustrated and established his own Jan Suraj Party.
For a long time, Kishor and Nitish Kumar shared a significant political partnership. Kishor played a crucial role in forming the Grand Alliance in 2015 and became the national vice president of JD(U) in 2018. However, the party's support for the CAA and allegations of corruption led to Kishor's departure in 2020. He officially launched the Jan Suraj Party in October 2024, positioning it as an alternative to JD(U) ahead of the upcoming elections in Bihar.

Kishor has accused the current JD(U) government of being mired in corruption and lacking in developmental initiatives. He cited an incident in Kalyan Bigaha, where district authorities allegedly barred him from entering, which he claims is evidence of the government's suppression of dissent. Public reactions are mixed; Kishor's supporters commend him as a bold leader advocating for accountability, while some JD(U) backers argue that Kishor is politically irrelevant and exaggerating his past privileges.
