The political landscape in Balh has become increasingly charged following Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu's recent visit, prompting APMC Chairman and Congress leader Sanjeev Guleria to launch a pointed critique of BJP MLA Inder Singh Gandhi.

In response to Gandhi's comments made during a press conference after the Chief Minister's event, Guleria suggested that the BJP legislator seemed rattled by the positive public reception Sukhu received and should concentrate on his own track record rather than resorting to personal attacks.

Guleria emphasized that elected officials should uphold dignity and decorum in their public statements, criticizing Gandhi's choice of language towards the Chief Minister and other political figures as inappropriate.

Challenging Gandhi's performance as a two-term MLA, Guleria noted that the constituents of Balh were well aware of his actions and effectiveness over the last eight years. He mockingly suggested that Gandhi had been inactive, only becoming engaged after witnessing the crowd at Sukhu's event.

"If the turnout has unsettled you, focus on engaging with the community rather than holding press conferences," Guleria remarked, insisting that an MLA should present their achievements and development record to the public.

He also dismissed claims that Sukhu's visit was merely a government rally, clarifying that it was a Congress event in Balh, reflecting the enthusiasm of party supporters and local residents.

Guleria further criticized Gandhi for his comments regarding former minister Prakash Chaudhary, questioning why the BJP MLA was perturbed by Chaudhary's mention during the Chief Minister's address.

He condemned Gandhi's remarks about veteran leader Sukh Ram, asserting that political disagreements should not lead to disrespectful comments about senior figures and their contributions to Himachal Pradesh.

In a call for accountability, Guleria challenged Gandhi to publish a white paper detailing his accomplishments during his tenure as MLA.

"If you wish to critique the government, first inform the public about your own contributions," he stated.

Guleria accused the previous BJP administration of making numerous announcements without ensuring their execution, contrasting this with the current government's commitment to fulfilling development promises.

He assured that the initiatives announced by Chief Minister Sukhu for Balh, including a proposed multipurpose store, would be realized within the next 15 months.

The development of Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Government Medical College and Hospital at Nerchowk also became a focal point of Guleria's defense, highlighting significant advancements in medical infrastructure and specialized services.

He claimed that the enhancements at Nerchowk exceeded public expectations from just a few years ago, asserting that the government was enhancing the institution to provide advanced medical care to residents of Mandi and surrounding areas.

Guleria raised concerns about expenditures during the previous BJP regime, alleging that approximately ₹60 crore had been disbursed to contractors, and urged Gandhi to clarify the work and spending during his party's time in office instead of solely criticizing the current government.

He further accused Gandhi of failing to provide a meaningful account of his achievements, stating that routine tasks like transformer inaugurations should not be touted as significant accomplishments.

Guleria advised the MLA to exercise caution in his public statements, asserting that elected officials should verify facts before making allegations against the government or senior political figures.

In a pointed political jab, Guleria warned Gandhi to be aware of his political standing and cautioned against making what he termed "unnecessary and irresponsible" remarks.

"The people of Balh are observant. They know who has genuinely contributed to the constituency and who has merely made statements. Ultimately, it is the electorate who will decide," Guleria concluded.

This exchange has further escalated the political rivalry in Balh, with Congress and BJP leaders increasingly exchanging direct accusations regarding development, political behavior, and the effectiveness of their respective administrations.
