Political Clash Intensifies in Assam

As the Assam Assembly elections approach, political tensions are escalating. On Saturday, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma targeted Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Gaurav Gogoi, referring to them as "Pappu" and "Chhota Pappu" respectively. Dismissing Gandhi's threat to arrest him if Congress regains power, Sarma remarked that even Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, and Rahul Gandhi would need to be reborn to achieve that.

While addressing a gathering in Sribhumi, Sarma stated that those who talk about arresting him would need to wait for multiple lifetimes to succeed. He emphasized that it would not happen in this life. His comments came in response to Rahul Gandhi labeling him as the most corrupt Chief Minister in India and accusing him of running a land ATM in collaboration with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.

Gandhi asserted that Sarma is the most corrupt Chief Minister, with his family also ranking high in corruption. He promised that a Congress government would take action against him. Despite Sarma's bravado, Gandhi claimed that he would eventually be silenced. He accused the Assam Chief Minister of managing the state through a syndicate due to corruption allegations, fully under Modi's control.

Gandhi stressed that even if the Chief Minister apologizes, the law will take its course, and action will be inevitable. This fear of accountability, he argued, is why Sarma is anxious, knowing that no one can shield him from legal repercussions. The Congress party responded sharply to Sarma's remarks, with leader Pawan Khera warning that no one is above the law.
