Political Dispute Erupts Over National Security

On Saturday, a political clash emerged between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress party regarding their respective roles in national security, particularly as tensions between India and Pakistan escalate. The ruling party criticized the previous UPA government led by Manmohan Singh, stating in a post on X, “Unlike the inaction during UPA's rule, New India has no patience for futile peace talks.”

The BJP's video highlighted the lack of decisive action by the Congress-led UPA government following terrorist attacks, contrasting it with the current government's firm stance against terrorism. The post conveyed a clear message to adversaries: “Don’t mess with us.” The video included images from the 2005 Delhi bombings, which claimed over 62 lives, the 2006 train bombings with over 209 casualties, and the 2008 Mumbai attacks that resulted in more than 166 deaths, alongside pictures of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, emphasizing that peace talks occurred after these incidents.

One image in the video bore the caption, “No retaliation, no lessons learned.” In response, Pawan Khera, head of Congress's media department, questioned on X whether it was the right time for political maneuvering, asking if the government no longer needed the opposition's support or if it was time to promote unity.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) also reacted to the BJP's post, urging the party to refrain from politicizing the situation. The AAP stated on X that it was inappropriate for the ruling party to engage in such politics while the entire nation stands united with the Indian armed forces against Pakistan. They emphasized that this is not a time for politics but for collective action against Pakistan.
