Political Tensions Rise as BJP Responds to Congress Mockery of PM Modi

BJP's Counterattack on Congress Leaders

Following a controversy where Congress leaders mocked Prime Minister Narendra Modi by referring to him as a 'chaiwala', BJP leader Shehzad Poonawala retaliated, asserting that the Congress party struggles to accept a hardworking Prime Minister from the Other Backward Classes (OBC) who hails from a modest background. On Wednesday, Poonawala took to social media to express that after Renuka Chowdhury's disrespectful remarks in Parliament and Ragini Nayak's recent jibe at Modi's tea vendor origins, Congress cannot tolerate a diligent Prime Minister emerging from a poor upbringing. He noted that this is not the first time they have ridiculed Modi's background, having insulted him numerous times, including derogatory comments about his mother.

Incidents of Disrespect During Campaigns

A few months back, during the Bihar Assembly election campaign, an unidentified individual managed to climb onto the Congress platform and made offensive remarks about Prime Minister Modi and his mother. Poonawala remarked, "People will never forgive them for this." Earlier on Tuesday, Congress spokesperson Ragini Nayak shared an AI-generated video depicting the Prime Minister as a 'chaiwala' at an international summit, holding a kettle and cups.

Ongoing Verbal Conflicts in Parliament

The winter session of Parliament has seen escalating verbal exchanges between Congress MPs and BJP members regarding the frequent disrespect shown towards the Prime Minister and other leaders. On the same day, BJP national spokesperson and MP Sambit Patra stated that Rahul Gandhi's comments have undermined the dignity of Parliament, while MP Renuka Chowdhury claimed that "real dogs sit in Parliament." During a press conference in the national capital, Patra recounted an incident where Chowdhury brought her pet dog to Parliament and dismissed media inquiries about it, suggesting that the real threats come from those in power.
