Political Tensions Erupt Among Karnataka Congress Leaders
Conflict Among Karnataka Congress Officials
Amidst rising political tensions within the Karnataka Congress leadership, a confrontation occurred between Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar's associates at the Karnataka Bhavan. This incident involved C. Mohan Kumar, the Assistant Resident Commissioner, along with Siddaramaiah's Special Duty Officer (SDO) and Shivakumar's SDO, H. Anjaneya. The dispute has escalated to involve their senior officials, with Anjaneya demanding a departmental inquiry against Mohan Kumar.
Formal Complaint Filed
In a formal complaint submitted to the Chief Secretary of Karnataka, Anjaneya alleged that since assuming his role as Assistant Resident Commissioner, Mohan has obstructed his work. He claimed that Mohan threatened to beat him and even approached him in the office premises to carry out the threat. Anjaneya stated, "Despite being senior in service, he is preventing me from fulfilling my duties. Therefore, a departmental inquiry into his promotion is warranted, along with an investigation into the disrespect I have faced."
Responses from Officials
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah acknowledged awareness of the altercation and mentioned he would review the situation. However, Mohan Kumar denied the allegations, asserting that he never threatened Anjaneya. He explained, "Anjaneya had previously visited the office and made some inappropriate remarks in a sarcastic tone. I was on the phone and did not pay attention. Later, I called Anjaneya to seek clarification on the matter."
Allegations of Misconduct
Mohan further claimed that Anjaneya had behaved inappropriately towards women at Karnataka Bhavan. He informed a news media outlet that female employees had also lodged complaints with the Women's Commission regarding this behavior. The Delhi Police stated that they had not received any PCR calls or complaints related to the altercation at Karnataka Bhavan, but assured that appropriate action would be taken if any complaints were filed.
