Emergence of the Cockroach People's Party

The Cockroach People's Party (CJP), which transitioned from an online satire platform to a protest movement, has sparked intense political speculation regarding its funding and institutional backing. Amidst the growing popularity of the movement, recent social media reports have alleged that Manoj Kumar Jha, a Member of Parliament from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), is a key patron of this organization, particularly highlighting his involvement in organizing a press conference for the group at the Constitution Club in New Delhi.

Allegations and Clarifications

These allegations gained traction following revelations that the venue for the recent CJP press conference was booked on the recommendation of MP Manoj Jha, where the party appointed three new spokespersons. Political analysts have suggested that the CJP is merely a puppet of the opposition's INDIA bloc. In response, Manoj Jha has provided clarifications regarding his involvement.

Jha stated, "You have seen my letter. If you read its content, it pertains to a journalist I was connected with on social media, as well as some senior colleagues from Delhi University. I was informed that they needed to hold a specific event, a press conference. I typically assist various civil society organizations every few days. I was simply told they needed to organize an event, and this is clearly stated in the letter."

Media Misrepresentation

He further expressed concern over media colleagues making accusations without verifying facts or reviewing the actual content of his letter. Jha emphasized, "If you look at my previous record concerning the Constitution Club, I have consistently supported numerous civil society organizations. As far as I am concerned, this matter should be considered closed... I expressed the same sentiment during the earlier movement in 2012 or 2013. I do not comment on movements. Those who lack clarity in their ideology did not seek my support yesterday. A positive aspect is that if anyone contacts me for a venue in the future, I will conduct proper inquiries."

Upcoming Protests and Demands

Investigations into the funding and political alliances of the Cockroach People's Party are taking place as the group prepares for a significant protest at Jantar Mantar on June 6. The movement's founder, Abhijit Dipke, who is currently working abroad, is expected to return to lead the demonstration. The protest aims to demand the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged discrepancies in the NEET-UG, CBSE, and CUET examinations.
