On Thursday, Bihar witnessed a significant political shift as the current Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar, submitted his nomination for the Rajya Sabha in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Patna. Alongside Kumar, other NDA candidates, including Upendra Kushwaha and BJP President Nitin Nabin, also filed their nominations for the upper house.
Having served as Bihar's Chief Minister for over two decades, Nitish Kumar announced his decision to contest for the Rajya Sabha, marking a new chapter in his political journey. The 75-year-old leader expressed his full support for the new cabinet.
Amit Shah's Remarks on Nitish Kumar
Following the nominations, Amit Shah stated that he attended the ceremony to support Nitin Nabin, Nitish Kumar, Ramnath Thakur, Upendra Kushwaha, and Sudesh Ram. Nitin Nabin, after a long and successful political career in the state, has now become the national president of the BJP and will contribute to Parliament through the Rajya Sabha. Today, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar also submitted his nomination, marking his return to national politics as a Rajya Sabha MP after a significant hiatus.
Shah highlighted that Nitish Kumar has been the Chief Minister of Bihar since 2005, noting that his tenure has been truly remarkable. This period will be recorded as a golden chapter in Bihar's history, shaping the state's development across various aspects. Throughout his extensive career as an MLA, MP, Chief Minister, and Union Minister, Kumar's integrity has remained untarnished, free from corruption allegations. Under Prime Minister Modi's leadership, he has significantly contributed to Bihar's progress, ensuring that all initiatives reach the people of Bihar.
Return to Rajya Sabha
Shah remarked that Kumar is returning to the Rajya Sabha once again. He extended a warm welcome to Kumar on behalf of all NDA allies, emphasizing that his tenure as Chief Minister will always be remembered and respected by the people of Bihar. Earlier, Amit Shah arrived in Patna and met with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, following Kumar's announcement of his intention to enter the Rajya Sabha after completing a 20-year tenure as Chief Minister.
