Political Response to Disturbing Incident

The alleged sexual assault of a three-year-old girl at a private school in Janakpuri, Delhi, has sparked significant political controversy. Senior leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh has announced plans to meet with Delhi's Lieutenant Governor, Tarunjeet Singh Sandhu, regarding this heinous crime. During a press conference held on Thursday, Singh expressed his intention to seek a meeting with the LG to demand strict action and justice for the young victim.

Sanjay Singh stated that he would formally write to the Lieutenant Governor requesting a meeting, accompanied by a delegation. The purpose of this delegation is to discuss measures to ensure justice for the girl and to hold those responsible accountable.

This statement from Singh comes on the heels of a protest led by Saurabh Bhardwaj, the head of the AAP's Delhi unit, who had gathered with female councilors and party workers outside the Raj Niwas to demonstrate against the incident just a day prior. The police intervened to disperse the protesters, citing the need to maintain law and order.

Bhardwaj accused the authorities of treating the demonstrators inhumanely while they were advocating for justice for the child. However, the police clarified that the protesters were removed as part of crowd control measures in a high-security area near the Raj Niwas.

The case involves the alleged rape of the three-year-old girl at the private school on May 1. Following the incident, the school's 57-year-old caretaker was arrested, but despite strong opposition from the prosecution, a Delhi court granted him bail. Authorities have indicated that they are reviewing the school's CCTV footage as part of the investigation.
