Political Outcry Follows Alleged Rape and Murder of Minor in Muzaffarpur

Political Reactions Emerge Amidst Tragedy

In Muzaffarpur, the alleged rape and murder of a minor girl has sparked significant political controversy. RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav has sharply criticized the Nitish Kumar administration, declaring that the double-engine government in Bihar has failed. He questioned whether the Chief Minister is even aware of the ongoing incidents, emphasizing that law and order in the state has deteriorated. Yadav pointed out the rampant administrative chaos across Bihar, lamenting the lack of action in response to such grave issues.

Lack of Attention from Officials

Tejashwi further noted that no one seems to have time to meet the victim's family, as the Chief Minister and both Deputy Chief Ministers are preoccupied with political engagements. Reacting to the incident, Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, expressed his outrage on social media, stating, “The brutality faced by a Dalit minor in Muzaffarpur and the negligence in her treatment is utterly shameful. Had she received timely medical care, her life could have been saved. However, the double-engine government has shown gross negligence not only in safety but also in preserving life.” He vowed that the family would not be left without justice and called for strict action against the culprits and negligent officials.

Details of the Incident

On Saturday, while the rape victim was being admitted to the hospital, Rajesh Rathore, the Bihar in-charge of the Congress party's media cell, was present at PMCH. A police officer reported that the minor girl passed away that morning after the accused brutally attacked her, attempting to slit her throat and chest. The assailant has since been apprehended. The head of the Congress's state unit described the incident as heartbreaking and a disgrace to the state led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

Government Accountability Questioned

Rathore stated, “The minor's death is a direct result of the complete breakdown of law and order and the health system in the state. The NDA government and PMCH administration are fully responsible for this tragedy. This incident highlights the insensitivity of the government, the Chief Minister, and the PMCH administration.” He added that the minor was referred to PMCH from Muzaffarpur.
