Political Tensions Rise Between Congress and BJP
On Saturday, a political uproar unfolded between the Congress and BJP following remarks made by BJP leader Udit Raj, who compared Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar during a Lok Sabha session. The BJP condemned these comments, asserting that they insult both Dalits and the social reformer. Inspired by Rahul Gandhi's speech at the Participation Justice Conference, Raj claimed that if the Other Backward Classes (OBC) heed his words, they could become the 'second Ambedkar' for their community. He urged OBC members to support the statements made by the opposition leader in the Lok Sabha.

In a post on X, Raj emphasized that OBC individuals must recognize that history does not always provide opportunities for progress. He encouraged them to follow and endorse the points made by Rahul Gandhi at the Tal Katora Stadium conference. He suggested that if they do so, Rahul Gandhi could emerge as their second Ambedkar. Following Raj's comments, the BJP targeted Congress for allegedly disrespecting Babasaheb Ambedkar. Amit Malviya, head of the BJP IT cell, accused Congress of plotting to undermine Ambedkar's legacy.
Malviya stated, "Congress is now worried about finding another Ambedkar. However, the nation knows how Congress betrayed Dr. Ambedkar and repeatedly disrespected him, as recorded in history." He criticized Rahul Gandhi, claiming he could only be seen as a historical failure. He questioned why Congress is not searching for another Nehru, suggesting that this effort is part of a scheme to diminish Ambedkar's legacy and greatness. Regarding Rahul Gandhi, he reiterated that he represents nothing but historical failure.

BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala remarked that while Congress speaks of a second B.R. Ambedkar, it has never truly honored the original Ambedkar. He asserted that disrespecting Dalits and B.R. Ambedkar has become synonymous with Congress. Poonawala questioned who has disrespected the 'real' Ambedkar, pointing out that it was Congress that failed to award him the Bharat Ratna and did not implement his Constitution in Jammu and Kashmir. He also highlighted that it was Jawaharlal Nehru who spoke against reservations.
