Violence Breaks Out Between BJP and Congress in Patna

On Friday, a confrontation occurred in Patna, Bihar, between members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress during a rally organized by the India Block. This clash was sparked by alleged derogatory remarks made against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother. The BJP was protesting against Congress outside their office when stones were reportedly thrown at the gathering. Nitin Naveen, a Bihar minister and BJP leader, stated that the public would respond strongly to Congress.

Naveen told a news outlet that every son of Bihar would retaliate for the insult to a mother. He emphasized that they would seek retribution. Meanwhile, Congress worker Ashutosh criticized Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, claiming that the altercation was orchestrated with government complicity. He asserted that a strong response would be forthcoming, accusing Kumar of wrongdoing.

Earlier that day, police in Darbhanga arrested an individual accused of making offensive comments about Prime Minister Modi.

In response to the clash, Congress leader Digvijay Singh remarked that such actions are all that the BJP has left to offer. He expressed that their struggle is for the voters and that they will not accept the alleged manipulation of voter registration, which he claims is being done by bringing in voters from Gujarat while removing names of Bihar residents. Singh accused the Election Commission and the government of bias.

The incident followed the emergence of a controversial video showing the accused using disrespectful language against Modi during an event organized by the India Block. Amid the ensuing political uproar, BJP leaders condemned the opposition's 'Voter Rights March' for the alleged offensive remarks. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath criticized the opposition parties, stating that such comments are an affront to 1.4 billion Indians. He asserted that Modi is now the world's most popular leader and that the language used at the India Block event is unacceptable. Adityanath called for Congress and RJD leaders to apologize for their remarks.
