Violence Erupts Between Political Parties in Kerala

A property dispute between two relatives in Nettayam, Kerala, escalated into a significant political confrontation. The clash involved intense violence between members of the BJP and the CPI(M), resulting in serious injuries to three police officers who intervened. In response, law enforcement has taken a firm stance, filing cases against a total of 94 activists from both parties.


According to police investigations, the conflict originated from a land dispute between two relatives residing in the Malmukal area of Nettayam. One party is affiliated with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), while the other supports the Communist Party of India (Marxist). Both factions had previously lodged complaints against each other, but the situation escalated on Sunday night when political activists gathered, leading to chaos on the streets.


The First Information Report (FIR) indicates that the injured officers include Civil Police Officer Deepu, Shibu, and the station head of Vattiyurkavu, Vipin AC. The police team arrived at the scene near St. Sebastian Church around 8:30 PM after receiving reports of the altercation between the CPI(M) and BJP workers.


The FIR further states that a CPI(M) activist allegedly struck Officer Deepu on the head with a stone, while a BJP member attacked SHO Vipin AC. Additionally, Officer Shibu was assaulted with a stick. Authorities confirmed that the incident stemmed from the land dispute between the two relatives, who had filed mutual complaints against each other.
