Reconstruction of the Murder Scene

In a dramatic development, law enforcement officials conducted a reenactment of the brutal murder of Raja Raghuvanshi, which occurred on May 23. This event took place at the selfie point near the WEI SAWDONG parking area, precisely between 1:18 PM and 2:00 PM. The Special Investigation Team (SIT), led by Shillong Superintendent of Police Vivek, brought Sonam Raghuvanshi along with the three alleged murderers to the scene to recreate the events of that fateful day.

Details of the Incident

The reenactment mirrored the original incident, where Sonam lured Raja to the selfie point under the guise of taking a photograph, only to be joined by the three accused in committing the murder. Following the crime, Raja's body was disposed of in a nearby ditch.

Police Findings and Confessions

During the reconstruction, police noted that Sonam had taken one of the accused on her scooter for approximately 10 kilometers, while the other two escaped on a different scooter. At exactly 1:18 PM, the police removed Sonam from the vehicle, marking the time of the original crime.

Superintendent Vivek disclosed critical information during the investigation, revealing that the suspects had confessed to their involvement. They were taken to the parking area where Raja's scooter was initially located, and a photograph was captured as evidence. The accused were also shown the exact location of the murder.

Murder Weapons and Investigation

The investigation uncovered that two DAU weapons were utilized in the attack. One weapon, identified as orange, is currently held by the police, while the second remains unaccounted for. The reconstruction allowed the accused to detail how Vishal attacked Raja. Medical examinations confirmed that Raja sustained two severe head injuries, indicating that both weapons were employed during the assault.

The reenactment evoked painful memories of that tragic day, as the same time and location likely resurfaced in Sonam's mind.

Authorities revealed that Sonam was present during the attack on Raja. As the assault unfolded and blood was shed, she fled the scene, while the suspects disposed of Raja's body in a gorge. It was also established that each of the three suspects struck Raja once.

Ongoing Investigation

The police have successfully recovered two of the weapons used in the murder, with efforts continuing to locate the third. A senior police official stated, "We are also exploring potential financial motives and a possible love triangle. Sonam's family members will be questioned as part of the investigation."
