Police Involved Shooting in Northwest D.C. Leaves Suspect Dead

Authorities reported that a suspect, linked to the shooting of a woman in Northwest Washington, D.C., was fatally shot by police during a confrontation in the Tenleytown area on Tuesday morning. The D.C. police received a call about a shooting around 7 a.m. in the 2000 block of Wisconsin Avenue NW, located in the Glover Park neighborhood, where they discovered a woman who had sustained gunshot wounds. Witnesses provided descriptions of the alleged shooter to the police.
Law enforcement later tracked down the suspect several blocks away in the 3600 block of Wisconsin Avenue NW. During the encounter, a police officer discharged their weapon, hitting the suspect, who was subsequently transported to a nearby hospital but succumbed to their injuries. Fortunately, no officers were reported to have sustained injuries during the incident.
As of now, the identities of both the woman and the suspect have not been disclosed, and the woman's condition remains unknown. In the aftermath of the shooting, multiple sections of Wisconsin Avenue NW were closed between Porter Street and Upton Street while police secured the area and initiated an investigation. Emergency responders and law enforcement remained present near Sidwell Friends School as part of the ongoing response.
