Police Operation Results in Fatal Encounter

In the early hours of Sunday, a police encounter near Solapur district in Maharashtra resulted in the death of a 23-year-old man wanted for serious crimes, including murder and extortion. Authorities confirmed the incident.


According to a senior police official, the individual, known as Shahrukh alias Atti Rahim, was a member of an active criminal gang. The Pune police had received intelligence a few days prior indicating that Shahrukh was hiding with relatives in the village of Lamboti, near Solapur.


The official stated, "Shahrukh had multiple serious charges against him in Pune, including murder, extortion, and illegal possession of firearms. Based on this information, a team from the Pune Crime Branch was dispatched to Lamboti immediately."


Upon reaching Shahrukh's hideout, police reported that he drew a pistol and opened fire as they approached. This led to an encounter between the police and the suspect around 3:30 AM.


The official added, "In the police's retaliatory action, Shahrukh sustained severe injuries. He was rushed to a government hospital in Solapur, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment."
