The Cockroach People's Party announced on Monday that police have taken Abhijit Dipke into custody at Jantar Mantar. Saurav Das, a spokesperson for the CJP, shared on X that Dipke was detained. He urged all MPs to join the students in their protests immediately. Das criticized the police for their brutal actions against peaceful demonstrators, claiming they were being beaten.
Additionally, Das mentioned that after waiting for over two hours, Ashutosh Ranka and he managed to meet JP Nadda for ten minutes at his residence. They presented a written letter outlining their demands, and Nadda assured them that internal discussions would take place. Reports of mass detentions are emerging.
According to sources, during the Cockroach People's Party's march to Parliament on Monday, several protesters attempted to breach security barricades, prompting security forces to deploy tear gas near Shastri Bhawan. This action occurred amid heightened tensions in the high-security area. As a precaution, metro station gates were closed, causing many passengers to be trapped inside nearby metro stations.
To prevent any security lapses, a significant presence of police and paramilitary forces remained in central Delhi. Police sources indicated that security measures have been doubled in the New Delhi district to maintain law and order, with additional contingents from surrounding districts deployed. They noted that several reserve paramilitary units have also been activated in response to the situation.
