Police Crackdown on Drug Trafficking in Nurpur: Youth Arrested with Heroin

In a decisive move against the illegal narcotics trade, the CIA Wing of the Nurpur Police apprehended a young man in the Chatroli region, seizing 16.02 grams of heroin from him.

On August 11, 2026, during a patrol aimed at combating drug trafficking, law enforcement received information regarding Ajay Kumar, a 28-year-old resident of Hariyal in Pathankot, Punjab. He was reportedly near St. Xavier Cambridge School in Chatroli Khad, allegedly preparing to sell heroin in the surrounding areas of Chatroli and Jasur.

Responding promptly, the police arrived at the location with independent witnesses and detained the suspect along with his motorcycle (PB08CC-4706 Splendor Plus). A thorough search revealed a transparent polythene packet concealed within the motorcycle's dashboard. Upon testing, the substance was confirmed as heroin, weighing 16.02 grams on a digital scale. Both the narcotics and the motorcycle were confiscated following legal protocols.

A case has been filed at the Nurpur Police Station under FIR No. 203/2026 dated 11.08.2026, invoking Sections 21 and 25 of the NDPS Act, 1985.

The arrested individual, identified as Ajay Kumar, has been taken into custody, and further investigations are currently ongoing.
