In a significant move against drug trafficking, the local police in Nurpur, operating from the Damtal Police Station, conducted a raid at a residence in Chhani village, located in the Indora tehsil of Kangra district, Himachal Pradesh. During this operation, authorities seized 11 grams of heroin (commonly referred to as chitta).

The police action was initiated following a confidential tip-off, leading them to search the home of Pinky (36), spouse of Dalip Kumar, along with her son-in-law Akashdeep (26), son of Sarfu Singh, who resides in Mehtabpur, Mukerian tehsil, Hoshiarpur district, Punjab. Upon inspection, officers discovered a black packet containing a powdery substance inside a blue plastic tray positioned near a wooden cupboard. Subsequent testing with a drug detection kit confirmed the substance as heroin.

The narcotics were weighed using an electronic scale, confirming a total of 11 grams, and were sealed immediately at the scene. An FIR has been filed under FIR No. 121/2026 under Sections 21 and 29 of the NDPS Act at the Damtal Police Station.

Officials have indicated that the investigation is ongoing, aiming to uncover the origins of the heroin and the intended distribution network. Additional individuals implicated in this illicit trade will be subject to stringent legal repercussions.
