Police Constable Suspended Amid Serious Allegations of Exploitation

Allegations Against Berhampur Constable

Berhampur: A police constable has been suspended following serious allegations of sexual exploitation spanning several years. The individual, Manoranjan Sethi, has been reassigned to the reserve office while an investigation is underway. According to the victim's complaint, Sethi allegedly coerced her into a sexual relationship while she and her family were residing at his home.

It is reported that Sethi misused his authority to intimidate the woman, making numerous false promises and maintaining the relationship for an extended duration. Approximately seven to eight months ago, he was transferred to Digapahandi, after which he reportedly began to distance himself from her, cutting off all communication.

The woman subsequently filed a formal complaint at the Berhampur Town police station, accusing Sethi of deceit and exploitation. Although the police registered her case, no immediate action was taken initially.

Afterward, the woman sought assistance from Berhampur SP Dr. Saravana Vivek M, who intervened and ordered the constable's suspension. The police have confirmed that an investigation is ongoing, and further legal measures, including potential arrest, will be pursued if adequate evidence supports the claims. Meanwhile, Sethi has denied the allegations, labeling them as completely false.
