Police Capture Suspected Cattle Traffickers in Uttar Pradesh
Police Operation in Mirzapur District
On Wednesday, law enforcement in the Lalganj area of Mirzapur district, Uttar Pradesh, apprehended two suspected cattle traffickers following a shootout. The police also rescued 33 cattle that were allegedly being transported for slaughter.
According to police sources, a team attempted to stop a truck near the Tendui Overbridge in the Lalganj police jurisdiction. The two individuals inside the truck opened fire on the officers as they exited the vehicle.
In the ensuing exchange, one of the suspects, Sonu Bind, sustained a gunshot wound to his leg. He hails from the Mirzapur area of Varanasi district. The second suspect, Mithilesh Kumar, was injured after colliding with a vehicle during the incident and was also apprehended at the scene.
Upon inspection, authorities discovered that the truck was loaded with 33 bovine animals, which were reportedly being transported from Sidhi district in Madhya Pradesh to Bihar. This group included 15 cows and 18 bulls and calves.
The animals were allegedly intended for slaughter. Additionally, a country-made pistol was recovered from the scene. A case has been registered at the Lalganj police station, and an investigation is currently underway.
