In a significant crackdown on illegal activities, police in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, raided a house in the Devpuri Bhatipura area late Monday night, uncovering a sex racket. Authorities apprehended seven women and two men during the operation, while the main suspect and an accomplice managed to escape. The two detained men are believed to be customers.
According to SP and CO Cantt, Naveen Shukla, there had been ongoing reports about the operation run by Irshad Pathan, also known as Pannu, at his residence. The police organized a raid with four teams and successfully detained the individuals at the scene.
Additionally, a local pan shop owner, who allegedly facilitated the racket by sending customers to Irshad after showing them photos of the women, was also taken into custody. SP City Vinayak Bhosale confirmed that a case has been filed against Irshad Pathan, his wife, and two sons, totaling six individuals involved.
Community members reported that Irshad Pathan posed as a lawyer, intimidating locals and threatening them with false legal cases. He had reportedly been operating the sex racket for nearly a year, with CCTV cameras installed around the property. Complaints about the racket were made to SSP Avinash Pandey about 15 days prior. The investigation is ongoing to identify all individuals connected to this operation, and further legal actions will be taken based on the findings.
