PM Modi Encourages Cabinet to Utilize Instagram for Youth Engagement
On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged his cabinet members to become more active on Instagram to connect with the youth. During a cabinet meeting, he inquired how many ministers were actively using platforms like Instagram. He emphasized that a significant portion of the country's youth spends time on this platform and stated that the government should strengthen its engagement with them. According to sources, the Prime Minister mentioned that merely posting updates about government initiatives is insufficient. Instead, he encouraged ministers to use Instagram to engage directly with young people in more interesting and accessible ways. Additionally, he motivated them to create reels and interactive content that would appeal to younger audiences.
Cabinet Approves Significant Legislative Measures
The cabinet meeting also saw the approval of several important decisions, including a draft bill proposing strict penalties for examination paper leaks. Government sources revealed that the central cabinet has approved amendments to the 'Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024.' This amendment proposes severe penalties for those involved in paper leaks. Reports indicate that the proposed changes include a minimum of five years' imprisonment for individuals involved in paper leaks, while those running organized paper leak rackets could face up to ten years in prison and fines of up to 10 crore rupees. This legislation, set to be presented in Parliament on Monday, aims to strengthen existing laws by targeting organized gangs and institutions involved in examination fraud, while also ensuring the protection of genuine candidates. It encompasses recruitment exams like UPSC and SSC, as well as entrance exams such as NEET, JEE, and CUET.
PM Modi's Video Message to the Youth
The cabinet's approval coincided with PM Modi's announcement in a video message that the government will introduce a robust bill in Parliament next week to prevent paper leaks. In a selfie video posted on X, he addressed the NEET paper leak controversy, assuring students that the government stands with them. Describing the leak as "not a trivial issue," he acknowledged the significant distress it has caused to millions of students and their parents. Modi mentioned that several measures have been taken over the past two and a half months, including the arrest of those involved.
