Bhopal, July 17: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate 13 revamped railway stations in Madhya Pradesh via video conferencing on Friday, offering much-needed comfort and modern amenities for railway users in the state.

This initiative is part of a broader national project where 75 railway stations, upgraded under the 'Amrit Bharat Station Scheme', will be officially dedicated to the public.

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav shared on his X account, “Madhya Pradesh is progressing with continuous advancements. Today, I will join the virtual inauguration of the redeveloped Tikamgarh Railway Station under the 'Amrit Bharat Station Scheme' led by our honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modiji in Tikamgarh. During this event, development projects worth over ₹189 crore will be inaugurated and foundation stones laid.”

The stations earmarked for redevelopment in Madhya Pradesh include Vidisha, Sanchi, Ashoknagar, Shivpuri, Beohari, Bhind, Harpalpur, Chhatarpur, Tikamgarh, Junnardeo, Balaghat, Chhindwara, and Nainpur. These stations have been thoroughly transformed into world-class facilities that combine functionality with local pride.

The newly upgraded stations feature modern buildings with appealing entrances, spacious and well-ventilated waiting areas, clean restrooms, and improved drinking water facilities.

Travelers will enjoy digital information systems, LED displays, enhanced security through CCTV, energy-efficient lighting, wide foot-over bridges, and improved connectivity between different areas.

Many stations are equipped with lifts and escalators, while ramps and other accessibility features facilitate easier movement for differently-abled individuals, the elderly, and women travelers. Additionally, enhanced parking options, organized traffic systems, and green spaces have been developed to create a more inviting atmosphere.

A key aspect of the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme is its focus on showcasing the unique culture, history, and heritage of each region.

For example, Sanchi station embodies its famous Buddhist heritage, while Vidisha showcases its rich historical significance.

Other stations similarly incorporate local architecture, art, and traditional designs, allowing passengers to immerse themselves in the essence of the city upon arrival. The redevelopment aims to provide smoother access to ticketing areas, waiting rooms, and platforms.

Real-time digital updates on train schedules will help reduce inconvenience, while the overall clean, safe, and organized environment will greatly enhance the travel experience. Well-structured parking and traffic management are expected to alleviate congestion around station areas.

This initiative also promotes the sale of local products, creating new job opportunities and boosting local commerce, particularly benefiting tourist destinations linked through these stations.

This significant infrastructure development under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme reflects the government's commitment to delivering world-class facilities to millions of passengers while celebrating and preserving India's cultural diversity.

For Madhya Pradesh, the upgraded stations will not only enhance daily commutes and long-distance travel but also foster tourism and economic development in the region.
