Historic Modernization of Indian Railways

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate 103 revamped railway stations tomorrow as part of the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, marking a significant step towards modernizing Indian Railways. The stations being inaugurated in Maharashtra include names such as Amgaon, Chanda Fort, Chinchpokli, Deolali, Dhule, Kedgaon, Lasalgaon, Lonand Junction, Matunga, Murtizapur Junction, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Itwari Junction, Parel, Sawda, Shahad, and Wadala Road.

In Tamil Nadu, the stations being inaugurated include Chidambaram, Kulithurai, Mannargudi, Polur, Samalapatti, Srirangam, St. Thomas Mount, Tiruvannamalai, and Vriddhachalam Junction. Uttar Pradesh will see the inauguration of stations such as Balrampur, Bareilly City, Bijnor, Fatehabad, Gola Gokarnath, Govardhan, Govindpur, Hathras City, Idgah Agra Junction, Izzatnagar, Karchhana, Mailani Junction, Pukhrayan, Ramghat Halt, Saharanpur Junction, Siddharthnagar, Suremanpur, Swaminarayan Chapia, and Ujhani.

In Gujarat, the Amrit stations being inaugurated include Dakor, Derol, Hapa, Jamwantli, Jamjodhpur, Kanalus Junction, Karmasad, Kosamba Junction, Limbdi, Mahuva, Mithapur, Morbi, Okha, Palitana, Rajula Junction, Samakhiyali, and Sehor Junction. Madhya Pradesh will see the inauguration of stations like Katni South, Narmadapuram, Orchha, Seoni, Shajapur, and Shri Dham. The Bagalkot railway station has been redeveloped at a cost of ₹16.06 crores under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, featuring a modern station building, improved passenger amenities, dedicated parking, upgraded platforms, lifts, escalators, and a wide foot overbridge, all aimed at enhancing the travel experience.

The Dharwad railway station has undergone redevelopment at a cost of ₹17.1 crores under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. The upgrades include a second entrance, a wider foot overbridge, lifts, escalators, modern signage, digital facilities, accessible toilets for the differently-abled, improved parking, ticket counters, and drinking water facilities, significantly enhancing overall accessibility and passenger convenience. Additionally, under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS), a new station building in Gadag has been constructed with three additional dormitories, bringing the total number of dormitories to four.
