Confidence in BJP's Victory
Earlier that day, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed confidence in the BJP's victory in the upcoming elections. Speaking to a news media outlet, he praised the public support for the party's 'Vijay Sankalp Yatra'. He criticized the leader of the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF), Badruddin Ajmal, stating that their victory march was successful, drawing large crowds who blessed them. Sarma asserted that they are confident of achieving historic results in favor of the BJP this time, claiming that they have effectively diminished the political power of Assam's adversaries. He vowed to eliminate any remaining opposition in the next elections.
Election Dynamics in Assam
The elections for the 126 seats in the Assam assembly will primarily see a contest between the ruling NDA government led by the BJP and the Congress party. The BJP, under Sarma's leadership, is aiming for a third consecutive term, while Congress is striving for a comeback. Sarma is expected to contest from his traditional Jalukbari constituency.
