PM Modi Slams Opposition for Criticizing Timing of Operation Mahadev
Prime Minister Modi Defends Operation Mahadev
New Delhi: On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi strongly criticized the Opposition for questioning the timing of Operation Mahadev, which resulted in the elimination of three Pakistani terrorists linked to the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22.
During a passionate speech in the Lok Sabha regarding Operation Sindoor, PM Modi accused the Opposition of politicizing issues related to national security.
"For weeks, they have been asking, 'What about the Pahalgam terrorists?' Now that action has been taken, they are questioning the timing," the Prime Minister remarked. "Do they expect us to wait for Saawan ka Somwar to conduct an operation named Mahadev?"
His comments came after notable criticism from various Opposition figures, including Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav, who questioned why the encounter occurred at that specific time. Yadav stated, "Why did the encounter happen yesterday? All parties had shown support when it was necessary," which drew a strong response from the ruling party.
PM Modi further accused the Congress party of aligning with Pakistan's narrative, as several leaders demanded evidence that the attackers were indeed from Pakistan.
"The nation is astonished. Congress is asking for proof that the terrorists were from Pakistan. That is precisely what Pakistan is asserting. Is Congress now speaking the language of Pakistan?" Modi questioned, suggesting that by doubting the attackers' origins, the party was inadvertently giving Pakistan a 'clean chit.'
Operation Mahadev was initiated in response to the tragic killing of 26 civilians in Pahalgam earlier this year. This operation, executed by a collaborative team from the Army, CRPF, and J&K Police, successfully neutralized three terrorists associated with The Resistance Front (TRF), a proxy group backed by Pakistan.
The BJP has positioned itself as a staunch advocate for national security, while the Opposition faces backlash for what the ruling party describes as 'irresponsible politicking in the face of terror.'
