A Special Message for Pilgrims

On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed an important message to the devotees embarking on the Amarnath Yatra. He emphasized that this pilgrimage is an integral part of India's culture and unity, which remains everlasting. In a post on the social media platform X, PM Modi remarked that the journey to Baba Barfani connects us with our traditions. He expressed his hopes for a safe and fulfilling pilgrimage for all Shiva devotees.

Letter Shared on Social Media

Along with his message, PM Modi also shared images of a letter outlining five essential points for the pilgrims. He noted that the Amarnath Yatra is not merely a religious journey but a representation of 'Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat,' where people from diverse languages and states unite in devotion to Lord Shiva. He also praised the people of Kashmir for their warm hospitality towards the pilgrims each year.

Gratitude to Those Ensuring a Safe Journey

The Prime Minister extended heartfelt thanks to the army, police, doctors, sanitation workers, and local administration for their relentless efforts in making the pilgrimage safe and accessible. He urged the pilgrims to remember these five commitments during their journey:

1. Do not litter along the way and preserve the beauty of nature.

2. Strictly adhere to safety regulations and traffic guidelines.

3. Purchase goods from local vendors in Jammu and Kashmir to support their livelihoods.

4. Plant a tree in the name of a family member or close friend upon returning home.

5. Maintain a spirit of love, unity, and brotherhood throughout the journey.

Welcoming Baba Barfani with Devotional Chants

Among the images shared by PM Modi, one features the message 'Amarnath Yatra: A Message from the Prime Minister' alongside a picture of the sacred ice Shiva Lingam in the Amarnath cave. The message begins with chants of 'Har Har Mahadev' and 'Jai Baba Barfani,' wishing for a successful journey for all.

Commencement of the Yatra Under Heavy Security

The Amarnath Yatra has commenced today in Jammu and Kashmir under stringent security measures. The first group of pilgrims has already departed from Jammu. The government and administration have implemented robust security arrangements to ensure a hassle-free experience for everyone. This year, the pilgrimage will last for 57 days, concluding on August 28.

Two Routes for the Sacred Journey

The holy cave is situated at an elevation exceeding 12,000 feet in the Himalayas, where a natural Shiva Lingam forms from ice. Devotees worship it as a manifestation of Lord Shiva. Pilgrims can choose between two routes to reach the cave: the traditional Pahalgam route and the shorter yet steeper Baltal route. Each year, millions of devotees from all corners of the country participate in this sacred journey.
