PM Modi Promises Support to Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland Amid Flood Crisis

New Delhi, July 30: On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his full support to the states of Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland in response to the severe flooding and heavy rainfall affecting the region.
This commitment was made during a meeting with five MPs from both states at Parliament House in New Delhi, where they discussed the ongoing flood situation.
Modi shared on social media, "I met with MPs from Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland to discuss the flood situation. The Central Government will collaborate with the state governments to tackle these challenges. I pray for the safety and well-being of everyone affected."
The delegation included Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, along with Lok Sabha MPs Tapir Gao (Arunachal Pradesh) and S. Supongmeren Jamir (Nagaland), as well as Rajya Sabha MPs Tai Tagak (Arunachal Pradesh) and S. Phangnon Konyak (Nagaland).
Except for Jamir, who is affiliated with Congress, the other MPs are members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
After the meeting, Rijiju reported that the MPs informed the Prime Minister about the extent of the flood damage in their states.
He stated, "The Hon'ble PM has assured us of full assistance and has already issued necessary directives for timely relief and support for those affected by the floods."
Tapir Gao expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister for his attentive response to their concerns regarding the flood situation, stating that Modi assured them of all possible support from the Government of India.
Both Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland have been facing severe flooding and landslides due to continuous rainfall since last month.
The disasters have resulted in numerous fatalities and significant destruction to homes, infrastructure, roads, agricultural lands, and crops.
In Nagaland, the Indian Air Force has been actively conducting rescue and relief operations in areas affected by landslides, working closely with the state government.
Over 300 stranded individuals have been rescued from various locations, and essential supplies have been airlifted to remote districts that lost road access.
In Arunachal Pradesh, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Rijiju, and Chief Minister Pema Khandu recently undertook aerial and ground assessments of the flood-impacted regions.
Following their evaluation, Chouhan promised comprehensive assistance from the Central Government, including a detailed damage assessment and new housing for families who lost their homes, as well as compensation for agricultural losses.
Earlier, Chief Minister Khandu had informed that both Prime Minister Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah were briefed on the flood situation and assured that the Centre would provide all necessary support.
He expressed confidence that the collaborative efforts of the Centre and the state would restore normalcy and lead to long-term solutions to mitigate the effects of such natural disasters.
