Commitment to Development
On March 31, Prime Minister Narendra Modi assured that the government led by the BJP would maintain a rapid pace of development, supported by the public, from local bodies to Parliament. Speaking at a public gathering in Vav-Tharad, Gujarat, Modi highlighted the state government's budget of ₹4.08 lakh crore, emphasizing that over ₹4 lakh crore would be allocated for the development of villages, towns, and cities. He stated that as long as the trust remains from the grassroots to Parliament, the 'superfast express' of development will continue to progress at this speed.
Significance of Disa Airbase
Modi expressed his happiness about landing directly at the Disa Airbase for the first time, which is located just 130 km from the international border, underscoring its importance for national security. He noted that the project for the airbase began during his tenure as Chief Minister when he acquired land for it, highlighting its critical role in securing India's western border. He criticized previous administrations for neglecting this project, stating that upon being sent to Delhi, he revived it, resulting in the establishment of a significant Air Force base at Disa.
Renewable Energy Initiatives
Reflecting on his past initiatives, Modi recalled that in 2010, he initiated the country's first solar park in Sarangpur while serving as Chief Minister. This multi-technology park sparked a movement in solar energy, and he noted that Gujarat is now a leader in solar energy production. He mentioned recent projects launched at the Khavda Renewable Energy Park, asserting that Gujarat is on its way to becoming a major hub for renewable energy.
Infrastructure Developments
During his address, Modi inaugurated and dedicated various development projects worth over ₹20,000 crore across sectors such as electricity, railways, road transport, health, urban development, tribal development, and rural development. He pointed out Gujarat's leadership in renewable energy, stating that the state began focusing on this sector when it received little attention nationally.
Major Infrastructure Projects
Among the inaugurated infrastructure projects was the Ahmedabad-Dholera Expressway, constructed at a cost exceeding ₹5,100 crore. Modi also laid the foundation for several significant road infrastructure projects, including the four-lane Idar-Badoli bypass and upgrades to the NH-754K segment. He emphasized the importance of these projects in reducing traffic congestion and improving urban mobility.
Urban Development Initiatives
Additionally, Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation for 44 urban development projects across Gujarat, amounting to approximately ₹5,300 crore. He also launched several health initiatives, including an 858-bed rain shelter hospital at the civil hospital in Asarwa, Ahmedabad, and similar facilities at the civil hospital and GMERS Medical College in Gandhinagar.
