A week prior, Ramesh Awasthi, a Member of Parliament from Kanpur, had written to the Prime Minister's Office requesting Modi to meet Shubham's family.

During his visit to Uttar Pradesh, Modi is also set to inaugurate several development projects aimed at enhancing infrastructure and connectivity in the region, including the Kanpur Metro Rail project, which involves an investment of over ₹2,120 crores.
