New Delhi, Aug 4: On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi presided over the weekly "Mangal Milan" gathering of the NDA parliamentary party in Parliament, where Union ministers showcased the government's accomplishments in areas such as sports, job creation, and social welfare to the ruling coalition's MPs.
The event took place within the Parliament House complex and saw participation from Union ministers and members of parliament from the BJP along with its National Democratic Alliance (NDA) allies.
BJP president Nitin Nabin was observed sitting next to the Prime Minister during the meeting.
After the session, BJP MP Manoj Tiwari informed the media that Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya provided an extensive overview of India's sports achievements since 2014, crediting the country's enhanced performance in international competitions to the government's sports policy.
Tiwari noted that the presentation emphasized India's medal wins at major global sporting events, including the Olympics, Asian Games, and Commonwealth Games.
The MPs were also updated on job creation, with Tiwari asserting that employment opportunities for the youth have significantly increased over the last decade.
"During the Mangal Milan, we learned that from 2004 to 2014, under the UPA administration, only 2.89 crore young individuals secured jobs, whereas from 2014 to 2026, a total of 17.1 crore youth found employment," he stated.
Additionally, a separate presentation focused on the Centre's social security and welfare initiatives, detailing their implementation and outreach, Tiwari added.
BJP MP P P Chaudhary characterized the weekly meeting as productive, remarking, "Mangal Milan mein Mangal hi hota hain (everything is good at Mangal Milan)."
Representatives from various NDA partners, including JD(U), JD(S), NCP, Shiv Sena, and NCPI, were also present at the meeting.
NCPI leader Sudip Bandyopadhyay, who recently transitioned from the Trinamool Congress to the NCPI, mentioned that this was his inaugural NDA parliamentary party meeting.
"As one of the senior-most parliamentarians in the country, it has been a positive experience," he remarked.
Among the notable leaders in attendance were Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah, Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar.
