Inauguration of Major Projects

On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated two significant projects in Delhi: the Dwarka Expressway's Delhi segment and the Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II). Accompanying him were Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, and Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini.


A New Chapter in Delhi's Development

During his address, PM Modi emphasized that these projects mark a new phase of development for Delhi. He stated, 'The Dwarka Expressway and UER-II will greatly benefit the residents of Delhi, Gurugram, and the entire NCR, saving commuting time for office-goers, which will also aid traders and farmers.'


Innovative Road Construction from Waste

PM Modi highlighted a unique aspect of UER-II, mentioning, 'This road has been constructed using millions of tons of waste. It will help free Delhi from garbage mountains by utilizing waste material in road construction.' This initiative reinforces the mantra of 'Green Delhi - Clean Delhi.'


Ongoing Development Initiatives in Delhi

The Prime Minister also praised the efforts of the Delhi BJP government, noting that under Chief Minister Rekha Gupta's leadership, the cleaning of the Yamuna River is progressing steadily, with 1.6 million metric tons of silt removed so far. Additionally, 650 electric buses have been launched in Delhi, with plans to increase this number to over 2,000 in the future. These initiatives reflect the goal of transforming Delhi into a well-developed city.

PM Modi remarked, 'The world is watching India's development. We must make Delhi a model where everyone feels it is the capital of a progressing India.' He assured that the campaign to enhance Delhi will continue.


Details of the Inaugurated Projects

The Dwarka Expressway and UER-II are crucial for easing traffic and reducing congestion in the Delhi-NCR region.


Dwarka Expressway (Delhi Segment)

Length and Cost: The Delhi segment of the Dwarka Expressway spans 10.1 kilometers and was constructed at a cost of approximately ₹5,360 crores.


Purpose: This expressway aims to alleviate congestion on the Delhi-Gurugram Expressway and facilitate travel between Delhi and Haryana.


Features: It is an 8-lane elevated expressway that includes several flyovers and underpasses, enhancing connectivity between Indira Gandhi International Airport and Dwarka.


Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II)

Length and Cost: UER-II stretches approximately 76 kilometers, with 54 kilometers in Delhi and 21 kilometers in Haryana, costing around ₹8,000 crores.


Purpose: Known as Delhi's third ring road, it will help reduce traffic congestion from the inner parts of the city, connecting Alipur in North Delhi to Mahipalpur in South Delhi, passing through key areas like Rohini, Mundka, Najafgarh, and Dwarka.


Noteworthy Aspect: The construction of this road utilized millions of tons of waste, making it an environmentally friendly project that significantly reduces travel time from Singhu Border to Indira Gandhi International Airport.
