Inauguration of Kaziranga Elevated Corridor

On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the Kaziranga Elevated Corridor project in Assam's Nagaon district, with an investment of ₹6,957 crores. He also digitally flagged off two Amrit Bharat Express trains during his visit.

During the final leg of his two-day trip to Assam, Modi participated in the ground-breaking ceremony for the Kaziranga project after arriving from Guwahati. An official stated that this corridor aims to facilitate safe wildlife movement near Kaziranga National Park and the tiger reserve, reduce road accidents on National Highway-715, and promote eco-tourism while creating local job opportunities.

This initiative is part of the ongoing project to widen the Kaliabor-Numligarh section of National Highway-715, featuring an elevated and wildlife-friendly corridor spanning approximately 34.45 kilometers, along with bypasses at Jakhalabandha and Bokakhat.

Modi also inspected a model of the Kaziranga Elevated Corridor. Additionally, he digitally flagged off two Amrit Bharat Express trains connecting Dibrugarh to Gomti Nagar (Lucknow) and Kamakhya to Rohtak.

According to officials, these trains will significantly enhance long-distance rail connectivity between Assam and various states, including West Bengal, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, and Haryana, reducing travel time and providing modern passenger amenities.

Earlier, the Prime Minister expressed his eagerness for the ground-breaking ceremony of major development projects in Kaliabor, Assam. He shared on social media, “Today, I am excited about the ground-breaking ceremony for significant development works, including the 35-kilometer-long elevated corridor in Kaziranga. This will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety of animals, especially during the monsoon season.”
