PM Modi Launches City Gas Distribution Project in West Bengal

City Gas Distribution Initiative Launched
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated the City Gas Distribution (CGD) project in the Alipurduar and Cooch Behar districts of West Bengal. This ambitious project, which has an investment exceeding ₹1,010 crores, aims to establish around 19 CNG stations, providing piped natural gas (PNG) to over 250,000 households and more than 100 commercial establishments and industries, in line with the government's minimum work program (MWP) objectives.
Cultural Significance of Alipurduar
During the event, the Prime Minister emphasized the cultural richness of Alipurduar, noting its geographical significance with Bhutan to one side and Assam to the other. He remarked on the beauty of Jalpaiguri and the pride of Cooch Behar, expressing his gratitude for the opportunity to visit this prosperous region. Modi highlighted that as India progresses towards becoming a 'developed nation', the involvement of Bengal is both essential and expected. The central government is committed to enhancing infrastructure, innovation, and investment in the area.
Benefits of the Gas Distribution Project
Modi stated that the City Gas Distribution project will facilitate the delivery of clean and affordable energy directly to homes via gas pipelines. This initiative will alleviate the hassle of purchasing gas cylinders and ensure safe gas connections. He described the project as more than just a pipeline initiative; it exemplifies the government's commitment to delivering services directly to citizens.
Foundation for Future Development
The Prime Minister asserted that the development of Bengal is foundational to India's future. He noted that today marks the addition of another strong brick to this foundation with the launch of the City Gas Distribution Project, which will provide clean, safe, and affordable gas to over 250,000 households. This will not only eliminate the worry of buying gas cylinders for cooking but also ensure a secure gas supply for families.
