PM Modi Inspires Youth to Embrace Football During Gangtok Visit

Kalyan Chaubey, the President of the All India Football Federation (AIFF), expressed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent football game with children in Gangtok, Sikkim, is likely to motivate many youngsters across India to take up the sport.
During his visit to the northeastern state, PM Modi shared moments of himself playing football with local youth, showcasing a joyful side of his trip.
On the social media platform X, he posted a video of the event, stating, "Nothing like playing some football with my young friends in Sikkim on a lovely Gangtok morning!"
The footage depicted the Prime Minister interacting with children on the football field, engaging warmly and actively participating in the game.
Chaubey noted that this interaction could significantly enhance children's interest in football nationwide, as the sport already enjoys considerable popularity.
In an interview, he remarked, "The way our PM played football with the kids in Sikkim, I believe many other children in India will connect with the sport even more now."
PM Modi's Contribution to Sports Promotion
Chaubey highlighted that PM Modi has played a crucial role in promoting sports through the Khelo India initiative, which has benefitted numerous athletes.
He emphasized that the Prime Minister's global stature and influence inspire many young individuals to participate in sports.
"PM Modi has greatly advanced sports through the Khelo India programs. Athletes have gained substantial advantages from these initiatives. His leadership is not only respected nationally but also internationally, and his involvement in sports encourages millions of children to join in. Football, being the world's most popular sport, has a significant following in India as well," he stated.
