Inauguration of the Semiconductor Facility

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated a semiconductor plant in Sanand, Ahmedabad, with an investment of ₹3,300 crores.


This facility marks the second of its kind in India and represents a significant milestone in the semiconductor industry. It is considered one of the key initiatives under India's semiconductor mission, aimed at accelerating progress in this sector. Earlier today, on the occasion of Mahavir Jayanti, PM Modi also opened the Samrat Samprati Museum located at the Koba Tirth in Gandhinagar.


The museum, named after Samrat Samprati, the grandson of Ashoka, showcases the rich historical, cultural, and spiritual heritage of Jainism.


On Monday, Gujarat's Minister of Science and Technology, Arjun Modhwadia, stated, "Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the ₹3,300 crore KENS semiconductor plant in Sanand tomorrow. This will be the second facility in the semiconductor manufacturing chain, producing over 700,000 chips daily."


He further emphasized that this project symbolizes India's entry into a new technological era and reflects the Prime Minister's vision of transforming challenges into opportunities. With this second unit, we are stepping into a futuristic industry era. The Prime Minister's hallmark has been his ability to turn challenges into opportunities," Modhwadia told a news outlet. Earlier in February, PM Modi inaugurated the Micron semiconductor plant.
