Inauguration of the Semiconductor Plant
During the inauguration of the Kense Semiconductor plant in Sanand, Gujarat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi remarked that a new bridge has been established between Sanand and Silicon Valley, declaring this era as 'India's Decade.'
Highlighting the rapid growth in the domestic electronics sector, the Prime Minister predicted that by the end of this decade, India's semiconductor market could exceed $100 billion. He emphasized that the commencement of production at this facility signifies India's robust role as a reliable semiconductor supplier in the global market.
India's Role in Global Semiconductor Supply Chain
Modi stressed that Kense, an Indian company, has now become a significant part of the global semiconductor supply chain. According to him, there is substantial international demand for the Intelligent Power Modules produced at the Sanand plant. He noted that a large portion of the products manufactured here has already been booked for export, particularly to companies in California.
He further stated that these modules will reach American companies and subsequently provide power to the entire world. Modi described this achievement as a proud moment, symbolizing the mantra of 'Make in India, Make for the World.' He also highlighted the strategic importance of this sector, pointing out that the global supply chain has faced significant challenges due to the pandemic and conflicts.

Modi acknowledged that the 21st century has presented numerous challenges, including crises caused by the pandemic and conflicts affecting the global supply chain. He mentioned that whether it involves chips, rare minerals, or energy, all these areas have been severely impacted by these struggles. He emphasized the necessity for a democratic nation like India to advance in this direction for the development of the entire world.
He elaborated that self-reliance in the semiconductor sector extends beyond just chips, reinforcing various fields such as AI, electric vehicles, clean energy, and defense.
