Grand Opening of the Volleyball Championship

On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 72nd Senior National Volleyball Championship through video conferencing. Welcoming the athletes as the MP from Kashi, he highlighted that this tournament showcases the essence of 'Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat', with teams from all 28 states participating.


Equality in Sports and National Development

The Prime Minister linked the sport of volleyball to India's progress, delivering a significant message. He stated, 'Volleyball is a game of balance, cooperation, and willpower. Just as victory in volleyball relies on mutual trust and teamwork, our nation is also advancing with a spirit of teamwork. When every citizen fulfills their responsibilities, the nation thrives.'


Athlete-Centric Model and New Reforms

PM Modi emphasized that since 2014, India's sports model has undergone a complete transformation. Current government policies prioritize the welfare of athletes. He mentioned the National Sports Governance Act and the Khelo India Policy 2025, stating that these reforms will enhance transparency in sports and provide opportunities for genuine talent to flourish.


India's Focus on the 2036 Olympics

During his address, the Prime Minister also discussed India's future sports plans. He noted that in the past decade, India has successfully hosted over 20 international tournaments, including the FIFA Under-17 and the Hockey World Cup. He added, 'India will host the Commonwealth Games in 2030 and is actively preparing to bid for the 2036 Olympics.'


Transforming Kashi

The Prime Minister remarked that the new sports infrastructure being developed in Kashi is greatly benefiting the local youth. He expressed confidence that Kashi is now fully prepared for major international events, which will also strengthen the city's economy.
