Modi Emphasizes UCC and One Nation, One Election
On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi underscored the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) and the 'One Nation, One Election' initiative as two significant unfinished priorities of the BJP, stating that serious and constructive discussions are underway regarding both issues. Speaking virtually on the party's foundation day, Modi also targeted the Congress party, noting that its workers have faced numerous challenges, including the Emergency, and have endured considerable hardships under Congress rule. He highlighted that many party workers in states like West Bengal and Kerala have even sacrificed their lives, where violence has become ingrained in the political culture.
Modi asserted that the mission continues. There are ongoing serious discussions in the country about the UCC and 'One Nation, One Election,' and we are making positive strides on these matters. The 'One Nation, One Election' proposal aims to conduct assembly and Lok Sabha elections simultaneously, while the UCC seeks to establish a uniform set of laws across the nation concerning marriage and adoption. Modi emphasized that the BJP is committed to facing every challenge, and the positive outcomes achieved in the past will continue to guide future efforts.
He mentioned the abolition of numerous oppressive laws from the British era, the construction of a new Parliament building for democracy, the 10% reservation for the economically weaker sections in the general category, the law banning triple talaq, the Citizenship Amendment Act, and the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya as countless achievements resulting from the BJP's sincere efforts. Highlighting the emotional connection of BJP workers, Modi stated that the party's foundation day is not merely a political event; it is an emotional occasion for every worker. This day provides an opportunity to express gratitude to the party for allowing us to serve the nation.
