PM Modi Emphasizes Electoral Integrity and Development in Assam
Prime Minister Modi's Address in Guwahati
On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that the Election Commission of India has initiated a 'Special Intensive Review' (SIR) process aimed at ensuring that 'intruders' are excluded from the electoral process, despite attempts by some 'traitors' to provide them protection. Speaking at a rally in Guwahati, Assam, he highlighted the central government's commitment to taking stringent measures against infiltration.
Targeting the opposition, Modi remarked that they are rectifying the mistakes made by Congress, which has historically overlooked Assam and the northeastern region. He stated that the Congress governments had failed to promote development in Assam and the Northeast, resulting in significant costs to the nation in terms of unity, security, and integrity. He noted that violence persisted for decades during Congress's rule, but in just 10-11 years, they are making strides towards its eradication. Districts previously considered conflict-ridden are now emerging as promising areas for development.
Modi accused Congress of sheltering intruders who have encroached upon forests and lands, jeopardizing Assam's security and identity. He asserted that the BJP government is correcting the errors made by Congress over the years. During his visit, he inaugurated the new terminal building at the popular Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, stating that just as the Brahmaputra River flows continuously in Assam, the stream of development under the BJP's dual-engine government is also uninterrupted.
In his speech, Prime Minister Modi emphasized that modern, world-class airport facilities open up new possibilities and opportunities for any state, serving as pillars of the state's growing confidence and public trust. He declared, 'Today is a celebration of development, not just for Assam, but for the entire Northeast... The whole country will witness Assam celebrating its development.'
He further expressed his deep connection to Assam's soil, the love and affection of its people, especially the mothers and sisters of Assam and the Northeast, which continually inspires him and strengthens their resolve for the region's development. He concluded by stating that a new chapter in Assam's development is beginning.
