New Delhi, May 15: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has departed for Abu Dhabi, marking the start of his official trip to the United Arab Emirates. This visit aims to enhance the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between India and the UAE.

During his stay, PM Modi is set to engage in discussions with UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, focusing on vital areas such as trade, investment, energy security, and cultural exchanges. This trip is anticipated to strengthen the strategic and economic ties between India and the UAE, a crucial partner for India in the Gulf region.

The Ministry of External Affairs highlighted that this visit will bolster the significant trade and investment connections between the two nations.

Energy security is expected to be a primary focus, with two significant Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) regarding LPG and strategic petroleum reserves likely to be signed, as per official sources.

The UAE ranks as India's third-largest trading partner and seventh-largest source of cumulative investment over the last 25 years. With a robust Indian community of over 4.5 million residing in the UAE, the visit will also address their welfare.

In a media briefing, Sibi George, Secretary (West) in the Ministry of External Affairs, mentioned that following the UAE, PM Modi will visit the Netherlands. This marks his second trip to the Netherlands since 2017, where he will meet King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima, as well as hold discussions with Prime Minister Rob Jetten.

For the third segment of his journey, PM Modi will head to Gothenburg, Sweden, to engage in bilateral talks with Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, aiming to review and enhance bilateral relations and trade opportunities.

Both Prime Ministers will participate in the European Round Table for Industry, a prominent forum for business leaders across Europe, alongside European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

George also noted that during the fourth part of his trip, PM Modi will arrive in Norway on Monday for the 3rd India-Nordic Summit and additional bilateral discussions.

Finally, PM Modi will conclude his tour in Italy on Tuesday, where he is scheduled to meet President Sergio Mattarella and engage in talks with Prime Minister Georgia Meloni.
