Significant Financial Aid for Farmers

On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the 22nd installment of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme in Guwahati, Assam, distributing ₹18,640 crores to 93 lakh farmers. Under this initiative, eligible farmers receive ₹2,000 every four months, totaling ₹6,000 annually, directly transferred to their bank accounts through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system. Just recently, on November 19, Modi had released the 21st installment of the scheme in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, benefiting over 9 crore farmers with ₹18,000 crores.

To date, the Prime Minister has disbursed more than ₹42 lakh crores through 22 installments of this scheme.

A Day of Celebration for Farmers

During the event, Modi emphasized that it was a momentous day for farmers across the nation and those working in Assam's tea gardens. He announced that over ₹18,000 crores had been sent to millions of farmers' accounts nationwide. Additionally, many families associated with Assam's tea estates received land leases today. Modi extended his congratulations to the people of Assam and all farmers across the country, highlighting that many of these farmers lacked mobile phones and bank accounts before 2014. Now, over ₹4.5 lakh crores have been deposited into their accounts.

He recalled that when the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme was initiated, there were rumors spread by Congress that the funds would need to be returned after elections. However, this scheme has now become a robust social security measure for small farmers. For the BJP-NDA government, the welfare of farmers is paramount. Modi pointed out that during Congress's decade-long rule before 2014, farmers received ₹6.5 lakh crores as Minimum Support Price (MSP), whereas his government has provided over ₹20 lakh crores in the same period.
