PM Modi Critiques TMC's Governance Ahead of West Bengal Elections
Election Campaign Intensifies in West Bengal
On April 29, West Bengal will hold its second phase of voting. In connection with the election campaign, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a 'Vijay Sankalp Sabha' in the Bangaon area of North 24 Parganas on Sunday. He launched a fierce critique against Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's administration, labeling it as 'jungle raj'.
TMC's Decline and BJP's Promises
Modi asserted that the pride of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) was shattered during the first phase of voting, predicting a certain victory for the BJP in the upcoming phase. He urged the public to vote for the BJP to liberate themselves from TMC's corruption, fear, and lawlessness.
Criticism of TMC's Governance
The Prime Minister remarked that the TMC, which came to power 15 years ago with the slogan 'Maa-Mati-Manush', now hesitates to even mention these words. He accused the TMC of handing over Bengal's land to syndicates and infiltrators. Reminding the audience of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose's words, he stated, "Bengal needs just one vote from you today. Bless me, and we will free you from TMC's corruption, fear, and lawlessness."
Concerns Over Women's Safety
Modi specifically referenced the incident in Sandeshkhali, highlighting that under TMC's rule, women and girls are the most affected. He alleged that the state government supports criminals and that girls are going missing. The Prime Minister promised that after May 4, the BJP government would hold these criminals accountable one by one.
BJP's Commitments to Farmers and Women
The Prime Minister announced several initiatives aimed at the welfare of farmers and women. For farmers, the minimum support price (MSP) for jute has been doubled, and the procurement from jute farmers has tripled. Additionally, jute packaging has been made mandatory for wheat and rice.
In terms of healthcare, the BJP government will provide free treatment up to ₹5 lakh. Medicines at 'Jan Aushadhi Kendras' will be offered at an 80% discount, and screenings and vaccinations for breast and cervical cancer will be provided free of charge.
For daughters, financial assistance of ₹21,000 will be given during pregnancy, and ₹50,000 upon completing graduation. Modi assured that the BJP government would prioritize the education and healthcare of daughters.
