PM Modi Criticizes West Bengal Government Over Illegal Immigration

Prime Minister Modi's Strong Critique of TMC Government

On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a fierce critique against the West Bengal government led by the Trinamool Congress (TMC), accusing Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's administration of opposing the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list to protect illegal immigrants. Speaking via phone at a rally in Taherpur, he claimed that the TMC provides shelter to these immigrants.

Modi emphasized that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) aims to end the 'Mahajungle Raj' of the TMC in West Bengal, highlighting the prevalence of corruption, nepotism, and appeasement politics in the state. He noted that while the TMC may resist the BJP, the results of the Bihar elections have opened doors for the saffron party in West Bengal.

Appeal to the People of Bengal

The Prime Minister remarked that despite the TMC's vigorous opposition, he fails to understand why there are obstacles to West Bengal's development. He urged that while one can oppose Modi, they should not anger the people of Bengal or deprive them of their rights and dreams. Modi humbly requested the citizens of West Bengal to give the BJP a chance.

He reiterated that the TMC's opposition should not come at the cost of the people's welfare, urging them not to infringe upon the rights of the citizens or shatter their aspirations.

Inauguration of Development Projects

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation for several development projects in Ranaghat, Nadia district of West Bengal. These include two national highway projects with an investment of approximately ₹3,200 crores. One of the projects involves the construction of a four-lane stretch of the 66.7-kilometer-long Barjaguli-Krishnanagar section of NH-34, along with the foundation stone for the four-lane Barasat-Barjaguli section spanning 17.6 kilometers.

According to the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), these projects will enhance connectivity between Kolkata and Siliguri, reducing travel time by nearly two hours. The PMO also stated that these initiatives would boost economic activities in the region and promote tourism.
