PM Modi Concludes Five-Nation Tour with Visit to Italy

Rome: On Tuesday night, Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Rome, marking the final stop of his five-nation tour. He was warmly welcomed by Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, who hosted a dinner in his honor. Following the dinner, both leaders visited the renowned Colosseum, where PM Modi shared photos of their outing on social media. In his post, he expressed, "Upon landing in Rome, had the opportunity to meet Prime Minister Meloni over dinner followed by a visit to the iconic Colosseum." He also mentioned their discussions on various topics, stating, "We exchanged perspectives on a wide range of subjects. Looking forward to our talks today, where we will continue the conversation on how to boost the India-Italy friendship."

Upon his arrival, Meloni shared a welcoming message on her social media, stating, "Welcome to Rome, my friend!" After landing, PM Modi engaged with the Indian community and enjoyed cultural performances at his hotel. He even signed an autograph for a young admirer who presented him with a portrait.
Among those who met the Prime Minister was Svamini Shuddhananda Ghiri, who noted that this was her second meeting with him since 2021. She highlighted that the Sanatana Dharma Samgha has been officially recognized as a religion in Italy by the Italian Parliament. "I am very happy and this is the second time we met him. We met him in 2021 and he also continued to sustain and to foster our mission...Sanatana Dharma Samgha is recognised as an official religion here in Italy by the Italian Parliament," she stated.
Additionally, a member of the Indian diaspora expressed joy at meeting PM Modi, saying, "We are very much delighted with the way he came and addressed us and we are very happy and it is the first time we got the chance to meet him. It is a very special moment for us and he has conveyed the message of oneness and togetherness."
PM Modi's visit to Italy comes at a time when the relationship between the two nations is gaining new momentum, with both countries collaborating closely to implement the Joint Strategic Action Plan 2025–2029 across various sectors. Prior to Italy, the Prime Minister visited Norway, Sweden, the Netherlands, and the United Arab Emirates during his tour.
