Celebration of Somnath's Heritage

On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the spectacular flypast by the Indian Air Force's Surya Kiran team in Somnath, expressing that the event filled everyone's hearts with immense joy. He shared his thoughts, highlighting how this remarkable aerial display showcased a unique blend of pride, valor, and devotion in the skies above Somnath.

The skies over Somnath witnessed a magnificent display of glory and bravery today, as the Surya Kiran team performed an extraordinary flypast. In his post, PM Modi remarked that the spirit of devotion and strength brought immense happiness to all.

Commemorating the Temple's Legacy

Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister released a commemorative postage stamp and coin to mark the 75th anniversary of the Somnath temple's reconstruction, emphasizing the spiritual and cultural significance of this sacred site. While addressing the gathering during the Somnath Amrit Mahotsav, he referred to the occasion as part of the divine play of Lord Sadashiv and reminisced about his long spiritual connection with the temple.

He stated, "This is all part of the divine play of Lord Sadashiv. As a devoted seeker of Dada Somnath, I have visited here countless times; I have bowed my head before him innumerable times. However, today, as I arrived, this journey through time provided a joyful experience. Just a few months ago, we celebrated the 'Somnath Swabhimaan Parv' here.

Honoring the Divine

The Prime Minister further noted that the nation is celebrating the 75th anniversary of the installation of the idol of Lord Mahadev in the temple, describing the Somnath Amrit Mahotsav as a symbol of devotion, perseverance, and continuity. He remarked that time reveals itself according to divine will, transcending the temporal realm. Today, we commemorate the 75th anniversary of the idol's installation of the Lord of Lords, Mahadev. This universe, which originated from him and ultimately merges back into him, is being celebrated today as we reconstruct his sacred abode.

Having consumed the halahal (cosmic poison) and becoming Neelkanth, the Somnath Amrit Mahotsav is taking place under his refuge. PM Modi also mentioned that Somnath remains a symbol of immortality and strength, even centuries after its destruction.

A Legacy of Resilience

Even after a millennium since its first destruction, Somnath's glory as an indestructible site endures; and today, in the 75th year of this modern establishment, we are part of more than just two events. Lord Shiva has granted us the opportunity to experience a thousand-year journey of immortality (Amrit Yatra). The Somnath Sankalp Mahotsav is part of a series of events held under the Somnath Swabhimaan Parv, which was celebrated earlier this year to mark the 1000th anniversary of Mahmud Ghazni's first attack on the Somnath temple in 1026. This festival celebrates the unbreakable spirit of India's civilization and its rich cultural and spiritual heritage.
